Hummingbird of Death Skullvalanche (LP)
Hummingbird of Death is back with their experimental 2nd LP,
Skullvalanche! Although they've always hinted at their brutal doom side on past releases, these seven slabs of bulldozery plunged straight into the deep end! The result is a soundtrack to being buried in an avalanche of skulls. However, as a fastcore band, they made sure to blend their steamroller assault with the eye-watering speed for which they are known.

Special Deep Six Records vinyl pressing adding an extra 7" with the entire original 7" from 1994 remixed and remastered! Pioneers of Italian Grindcore slashing the masses since 1988 covering 21 classics of Italian Punk, Hardcore and Thrash. The end result is a granitic overdose of hate fueled hammering Thrash/Fastcore ranging from out of control blasting fury to the real old school Hardcore roots of the Bastards... BULLDOZER, SCHIZO, NEGAZIONE, RAW POWER, JESTER BEAST, IMPACT, WRETCHED, NERORGASMO, DECLINO, UPSET NOISE and tons more! Here's their introductive quote to this album: "In 1994, the German Noise/Grind/Thrash label Ecocentric Records released a CRIPPLE BASTARDS 7" called "Frammenti di vita" featuring covers of early '80s Italian Hardcore bands butchered in our own style. For years we had been planning to record a definitive full length follow up with different songs than the previous EP, but we finally made it - only16 years later. We chose a selection of the Italian Punk/Hardcore/Thrash bands that influenced us most in the early days and helped forge our sound, and it's also our homage to those whose members have become our friends throughout the years." The cover art of the album was drawn by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Voetsek, Violator, Deadfall, Cannabis Corpse etc). And at last, here's the album tracklist... get ready: 1- MISOGYNISTS (Bulldozer) 2- LE REGOLE (Declino) 3- SOLO ODIO (Impact) 4- ASFALTO (Upset Noise) 5- VIOLENCE AT THE MORGUE (Schizo) 6- SGUARDO REALTÀ (Indigesti) 7- QUALCOSA SCOMPARE (Negazione) 8- TUTTO UGUALE (Nerorgasmo) 9- MATER TENEBRARUM (Necrodeath) 10- FACTORY (Raw Power) 11- MAI CAPIRAI (Blue Vomit) 12- CLAUSTROPHOBIC AUTOGAMIC (Jester Beast) 13- FINIRÀ MAI (Wretched) 14- ASOCIALE OI! Weekend Nachos Worthless (LP)
Worthless, the latest full-length recorded effort from this Chicago quartet, is... a face-peeler. Opening track “Hometown Hero” sets the bar high in hurry with a pummeling combination is Discharge-esque riffs that explode into grindcore blasts beats and vocal attacks that are as poignant as ever. Here we see singer Snyder stepping up the pace with rants that drive forward at 200 mph, ready to blow you over with a guitar presence that is thicker than sea-shit. This is extreme music for extreme musicians and those who have an ear for detail.
The awesomely thick, but not overly-engineered sounding production really puts this LP over-the-top. As someone who is inundated with new releases every week, this authenticity of sound within Worthless is immediately engaging and sustaining.
If I had to nitpick, I’d shave off some of the slower droning movements. I’ve never been one for sludge, I’m just too ADD. So for me, the tracks that keep it moving are the standouts including, “Hometown Hero,” “Frostbitten,” “Dubviolence,” and “You Could Exist Tomorrow.” All-in-all, solid release. Snag it.

This Comp Kills Fascists Volume 2 (Double LP)
Vol. 2 packs 50 percent more grind and power violence than its predecessor and it’s still a vital link to a rash of new bands worth hearing.
The belles of the ball are easily Noisear who are at once speedy and engrossing, finally stepping out from under the shadow of Discordance Axis to become something that is at once technical, cathartic and wholly their own.
Triac are also raucous and rough and tumble while finally hearing Hummingbird of Death’s lofi ruckus, I get what everyone’s been raving about. Give Slovakians Idiots Parade a few more years and I could see them gunning for Suffering Mind’s championship belt. Drugs of Faith rehash “An Ode to Those Unwed” from their self titled EP and give us a new track, “Loss of Credibility,” that bodes well for their pending full length.
Thrash masters Population Reduction should roam the streets of Tinseltown forcibly tattooing the title of “Real Zombies Don’t Run” on assorted Hollywood execs’ noggin. Marion Barry sound like Apartment 213 clones and Apartment 213 sound a lot like Apartment 213 as well. Septic Surge’s noise holocaust is exquisite, combining classic Agoraphobic Nosebleed with weed drenched Man is the Bastard.
